| San Francisco Giants SBC Park On March 31, 2000, the San Francisco Giants got their new SBC Park. The stadium, which required no public funding, is located in the industrial waterfront area of San Francisco known as China Basin. SBC Park is served by more public transportation than any other ballpark in the country and is within walking distance of downtown and many city neighborhoods. This $319 million stadium has 63 luxury suites and 5,200 club seats and an additional 1,500 club seats at the field level behind home plate. A unique public promenade has been developed along the waterfront from right field to center field where fans of all ages can watch the game through a fence at no charge and where San Franciscans can enjoy new access to the bay 365 days a year. The ballpark also features an 80-foot Coca-Cola bottle with playground slides and miniature version of SBC Park behind the left field bleachers. For the convenience of the fans, the Giants installed one hundred and twenty-one 802.11b wireless internet access points, covering all concourses and seating areas, creating one of the largest public "hotspots" in the world. |
